NEWS & INFO FOR BASEBALL
-We will have our first Diamond Club Meeting for the 2010-2011 school year/baseball season on Sunday September 26 in the cafeteria at HCHS at 3pm. We need to discuss future fundraising events, fundraising ideas, 2011 team schedules, and new officers for the upcoming year. I hope you will make the meeting.
-Weightlifting and conditioning for baseball will start after fall break on Mon Oct 11. The older group (returning varsity players, returning American Legion players, and any other 11th or 12th graders) will go in the morning at 5:45 and it will be Mon/Wed/Fri. The younger group (10th graders down to 7th graders that doesn’t apply to the group above) will go in the afternoons after school and it will probably wrap up around 5:30.
-Be prepared in the first week to be measured in the following exercises.

So don’t come in out of shape and get hurt. It will put you behind during all of conditioning.

During last night's varsity game versus University Heights, the Colonels eclipsed the single-season team home run record by surpassing the previous record of 33.
Also, Kyle Gibson slugged his way past the single-season individual record by belting his 13th home run on the season, passing the previous record of 12.
Coach Nathan Isenberg also collected his 100th career win with the victory.

Baseball will be working the January 2, 2010 boys/girls basketball game against Christian County. We will need 5 ticket sellers and 5 concession stand workers. Please call or email Beth Watson or Coach Isenberg to work.

Myles Scott signs with Young Harris College in Young Harris, GA. Young Harris is one of the most prominent Junior College baseball programs in the Southeast. They are currently in transition to NCAA Division II status. In 2009, Young Harris finished the regular season #4 in the country in the Division I NJCAA polls.
Myles is 3 year letter winner. He was a member of the 2007 and 2009 2nd Region Championship Teams.
He was selected All-Region in 2009 as a Junior and was tied with the team lead in home runs (4). On the mound he was 5-3 with a 2.06 ERA. He pitched a no-hitter in 2009 against Madisonville in the 2nd Region Semifinals.

Jordan Cessna signs with WKU Baseball. Western Kentucky University finished 23rd in the country in 2009. Jordan is a 3 year letter winner. As a Junior, he was selected All-Region and to the Kentucky West Junior All-Star Team. He is a 3 year 1st Team Academic All-State. In 2009, he batted .276 and led the team with 39 runs scored and 39 walks. He was tied for team lead with 16 stolen bases and set the school record with 15 hit by pitches.
Kyle Gibson commits to University of Louisville Baseball. The University of Louisville finished 2009 14th in the country. Kyle is a 4 year letter winner, was selected All-District and All-Region in 2009 and also to the Kentucky West Junior All-Star Team. He is a 3 year Academic All-State Honorable Mention.
In 2009, he led the team with a .454 batting average, had 2 HRs, 12 doubles, led the team with 4 triples, tied the team lead with 16 stolen bases and has thrown out 51 of 56 base runners during his Freshman through Junior seasons.

The HCHS Baseball Team had their 2009 banquet to commemorate the 2009 season. Awards were given out for excellence and achievements on and off the baseball field. Each award was voted on by members of the 2009 team. The following awards were presented at the banquet. 2009 Offensive Player of the Year-Gage Thompson, 2009 Defensive Player of the Year-Kyle Gibson, Pitcher of the Year-Sam Higgs, 2009 Mr. Sacrifice (Most Sacrifices)-Gage Thompson, 2009 Co-Thieves of the Year (Most Stolen Bases)-Kyle Gibson and Jordan Cessna, 2009 Rookie of the Year-Sam Higgs, and 2009 MVT (Most Valuable Teammate)-Ben Blaize.
